Best Garden Centers in Texarkana.

Spring is coming and it’s time to start planning your gardening and landscaping. Gardening is one of my favorite hobbies and it has been fun to learn how to garden in zone 8A. To help with your planning, here are the best garden centers in Texarkana. Whether you’re looking for perennials, annuals, flowers, trees or shrubs, these garden centers have it all. We love one of them so much, we had my daughter’s sixth birthday there. All of these garden centers have everything you’ll need to get the garden of your dreams growing strong.

Texarkana is in USDA hardiness zone 8B with an average LAST frost date within the first half of the month of March.

Three Chicks Feed, Seed and Cafe.

This fun garden center is in Texarkana, Arkansas. It’s a great place to visit for a little excursion. They are one of the best garden centers in Texarkana for cute garden decor. There are always a huge selection of bright and colorful decorations in the back area of the shop. Three Chicks is a feed store with everything for chickens, horses, and other farm animals, even dog food. You can even buy some baby chicks in the spring time. The garden center has the cutest boutique as well, selling things like bags and purses, shoes, natural health and beauty products, food products and more. Make a day of it and plan to enjoy lunch at their onsite cafe, with a full menu and rotating daily specials. A tip: leave room for dessert and enjoy some pie. Follow their Facebook page for menu and inventory updates.

Best garden center in Texarkana: Little Country Greenhouse.

Little Country Greenhouse is our favorite and it’s the best garden center in Texarkana and beyond. While technically located in New Boston, it’s worth the drive to visit this whimsical place. We’ve been taking monthly trips out there since we moved to the area. Bruce, the local “blooming idiot” is such a kind person and so is his wife and as well as all of the employees. It’s so much more than a garden center, it’s a destination. Little Country Greenhouse has a huge selection of flowers, both annual and perennial, the best fruits and vegetables, and more. They also have fun (free) seasonal photo ops and a butterfly cottage in the summer time. Be sure to check out the greenhouse to see the parakeets and incredible selection of house plants. Grab some ice cream inside when you checkout! Follow their Facebook page to catch Bruce’s weekly “bloomin idiot” videos.

Ellis Home and Garden.

This garden center is on the Texas side of Texarkana, out on Richmond Road. They have a huge selection of seasonal decor on the interior of the shop. You’ll find everything you need to decorate your garden or patio, including a large assortment of outdoor pillows. They can also do floral and arrangement orders. For plants, they have a wonderful seasonal selection of flowers for potted plants, seeds, bulbs, and tubers. Ellis Home and Garden also has garden vegetable transplants according to the season, as well as succulents and cacti.

Twitty Nursery.

Twitty Nursery is another one of the best garden centers in Texarkana and it’s on the southwest side of the city, in Texas. It leans more toward landscaping plants and trees. But, they still have a great selection year round. Twitty Nursery also has rose bushes and other flowering perennials. For large trees, they have magnolia trees and more.

Hidden Gardens and Nursery Center.

This small but charming garden center is in Nash, Texas, close to Texarkana. It has beautiful potted and hanging plants available seasonally. At Hidden Gardens and Nursery Center their selection changes throughout the year and the best way to see what they have is to stop by.

H and N Landscape and Nursery.

H and N Landscape and Nursery is a large operation on the Texas side of Highway 71, just north of Texarkana. In the spring time, they have one of the best assortments of fruit trees. Inside, they have lots of home decor and garden themed design items, plus a huge selection of wind chimes and things to jazz up your garden. They are also able to do special order arrangements and large scale landscaping. Be sure to walk around their grounds and check out the koi pond out back!

Davis Feed.

While technically in Ashdown, Arkansas, Davis Feed Company is another one of the best garden centers in Texarkana and the surrounding areas. This charming store has a greenhouse full of plants for your garden and for your home. They have seasonal transplants for your garden, succulents, flowers, and more. Inside the shop you’ll also find a wide range of farm supplies, footwear, and gifts. Additionally, Davis Feed carries feed for chickens and other farm animals, as well as dog food. My favorite feature is their huge, old fashioned, wall of seeds for sale! You can scoop your own seeds and they have a wide variety.

Big box retailers.

There are also multiple large chain retailers in Texarkana. The garden centers are starting to fill up at Lowes, Home Depot and Walmart. There are Walmarts on both the Arkansas side and the Texas side. Lowes and Home depot are on the Texas side of Texarkana. A hint: I’ve had great success with the dahlia tubers from Home depot.

Happy gardening!

Gardening is one of my favorite hobbies. While we don’t live on a farm, we’ve made the most with our suburban back yard and I love growing all that I can to feed my family and bring some joy into the world with flowers. You can see my flowers and garden on Instagram on the hashtag #coleyraegardens. For something wild, read about that one time we grew luffas that took over the yard. Thanks to some of the best garden centers in Texarkana, I can always find great transplants and seeds. What will you grow this year? Happy gardening!

A tip: zinnia and sunflowers are the easiest flowers to grow and they’re great for kids too!
