Best Coffee Shops in Texarkana

Texarkana is a unique city that sits on both sides of the Texas and Arkansas state line. It’s a mid size city that has two colleges and a growing foodie scene. The area has seen a rapid increase in small businesses in the last five years, including coffee shops! Here are the best coffee shops in Texarkana and the surrounding areas. Whether you’re looking for a traditional or a third wave coffee shop, there’s something for everyone.

Alley Cats Coffee.

Alley Cats is one of my personal favorites and one of the best coffee shops in Texarkana. What makes this place so unique is it’s location! The coffee shop is housed inside an old railroad dining car. It’s permanently fixed in downtown Arkansas with a beautiful, elevated patio for great outdoor dining. It’s a fun gathering space inside too, with bright and inviting decor and ample seating. They serve Onyx coffee and can do drip coffee or espresso drinks of all kinds. My favorite: a lavender oat milk latte. Alley Cats serves light food fare and works with other local businesses to keep the ingredients as farm to table as possible. I’ve heard the avocado toast is fantastic. Alley Cats is open Tuesday through Saturday, closing at 3 pm on weekdays. They are open late on Friday and Saturday nights when there are events downtown and also serve a selection of craft beer and wine. Follow Alley cats on Instagram and Facebook.

The Stained Page.

This is a new coffee shop in downtown Texarkana and it opened in January 2024. It just off Broad Street, on Main Street, in Texarkana, Texas. It’s one of the best coffee shops in Texarkana because it’s also a used book store! What a dream: books and coffee. They offer a great menu of coffee, both drip and espresso drinks. Stained Page also has a rotating menu of unique and seasonal drinks. For food, they offer a large selection of homemade baker items, including some gluten free and dairy free options! They are one of the only coffee shops in town with gluten free options on the menu. They are also open late on Saturdays that coincide with events happening at the Perot Theater, Silvermoon Theater, or other events downtown. Follow The Stained page on Facebook and Instagram for updates.

The Rabbit Hole.

Another one of the best coffee shops in Texarkana that is downtown is The Rabbit Hole. The Rabbit Hole doesn’t have a website but they are on Facebook. This charming coffee shop is located right next to the most iconic spot in Texarkana: the State Line Avenue photo op outside of the downtown post office and court house. They are more than just a coffee shop, they’re a mission minded community gathering place. The Rabbit Hole has a huge menu for food, from sandwiches to hearty comfort food classics. Seating is plentiful as well. Rabbit Hole has drip coffee, espresso drinks, and lots of fun non-coffee options, including a large menu of specialty soda drinks.

Local Habit Coffee Company.

Local Habit is actually in Nash, Texas but it’s still one of the best coffee shops in Texarkana. This coffee shop specializes in third wave speciality coffee. They have everything from fantastic pour overs and drip coffee, to a great tea selection and espresso drinks. The vibes are excellent and it’s very Instagrammable. Seating is not an issue and they have a range of tables, couches, and different types of chairs and tables. plus a selection of board games, and a wonderful patio. Another great thing about Local Habit is the special events they offer throughout the year. Fun fact: Local Habit is opening a second location in the new Hochabow luxury shopping center in Broken Bow, Oklahoma. Local Habit has a great social media presence as well, follow them on Instagram and Facebook.

Taste and See.

Taste and See has been one of the best coffee shops in Texarkana, and a staple in the community since 2009. For many years, it was the only local coffee shop in the area. Taste and See has their own line of coffee with many delicious flavors (especially their fall flavors). In addition to having beans for sale, they serve drip coffee, espresso drinks as well as blended drinks. Taste and See is more than coffee and is perhaps best known for their delightful chocolates and treats, plus gelato. It’s always my go to shop for gift basket goodies and they always have the best holiday gift offerings. Follow them on Facebook and Instagram for current specials and flavors.

Keller Coffee Company.

This is another new to the area coffee shop, which started in nearby Ashdown, Arkansas. Keller Coffee is opening a location on the Arkansas side of Texarkana, in the shopping center just off Highway 82 and Interstate 49. The new location is off of Highway 82 in Texarkana, Arkansas. If their Ashdown location is any indication, it’s going to be great! They serve Onyx coffee in drip, espresso, and blended drinks. For food, they have a broad menu for breakfast and for lunch. The opening yet is still to be determined at the time of this publishing. Follow them on Facebook for updates.

Roosters Coffee Company.

Roosters Coffee Company is on the southwest edge of Texarkana, Texas just off of Highway 59 as you head west out of town. It is the cutest drive through coffee shop. The bright yellow tiny building is hard to miss. It is drive through only and they have two drive up windows to wrap cars around the building. Though it’s small, it has a large menu! They serve espresso drinks, drip coffee, and a huge variety of blended drinks. Smoothies are on the menu here too! For food, they have some baked good items and bagels too. Roosters has a great rotating menu of seasonal drinks too. Follow them on Facebook for hours and menu updates.

Humble Troll Coffee Truck.

Humble Troll is a coffee brand that’s made from a local roaster. It’s also a nonprofit and the beans are roasted and crafted by Mission Texarkana. Humble Troll launched in 2023 and while they don’t have a permanent location, they do have a coffee food truck that pops up around town. In addition to the truck, Humble Troll is often seen as a vendor as events around town. Be sure to follow them on Instagram and Facebook to find out where they’ll be next. Humble Troll coffee beans are available anytime on their website.

Emmie P’s Bistro and Bakery.

A new addition to downtown is Emmie P’s Bistro and Bakery, It’s located next to the Texas side courthouse, but on the Arkansas side, where Graham Slam Bakery used to be. It’s a charming little spot for breakfast and lunch. They serve coffee and espresso along with a great menu for breakfast. Be sure to check out the upstairs seating area, it’s so cute!

Other best coffee shops in Texarkana.

Texarkana is also home to several national chains of coffee shops. There is a Starbucks on the Arkansas side of State Line Avenue and another one on the Texas side off of Richmond Road. A new (larger) Starbucks is currently under construction across from Church on the Rock by where the new Wadley Hospital will be. Scooters Coffee is a bit farther down Richmond Road on the Texas side. 7 Brew is another new coffee chain that’s new to the area.
